Increase in Guernsey minimum wage agreed

  • Published

A 2.5% increase in minimum wage rates in Guernsey has been agreed by the States.

The new hourly rates of £6.15 for adults and £4.35 for those aged 16-18 will come into force in October 2011.

It is the first change to the minimum wage since its introduction in October 2010.

Moves to make the rate relate to average earnings and to suggest changes in the process of setting the rates were dismissed without debate.
