Guernsey charity walk raises record £53,605

A record £53,605 has been raised by the 2011 Itex-Rotary walk in Guernsey.
Nearly 600 people took part in the charity walk, which allows participants to trek 40 miles around the island's coastline, or complete a shorter route.
The money raised will be split up and given to five major local charities and a number of smaller ones.
Charities set to benefit include three local community centres and the Teenage Cancer Trust, as well as the charity work of the Rotary Clubs of Guernsey.
Groups were awarded their grants by Guernsey's Lieutenant Governor Air Marshal Peter Walker at a ceremony on Tuesday.
The walk has taken place regularly in Guernsey since 1990, and has raised more than £400,000 since it began.
