Guernsey's new electoral roll has attracted about 11,000 submissions.

The Home Department said 5,500 people had already been registered, with a further 5,500 still to be processed.

Executive officer Nikejshia Moon said the department would keep momentum going, adding: "We've got quite a few left to go to reach our 35,000 target.

"Our message will be appearing on milk cartons... it's on the back of the buses, and there's a banner across Smith Street."

She added that she thought reaching the target was achievable.

The Home Department launched its campaign, Election2012, on 1 September.

The election is due to take place on 18 April 2012, and 45 seats in seven districts will be contested.
