Guernsey housing estate gets CCTV after complaints
- Published
CCTV cameras have been installed at a Guernsey housing estate in a bid to prevent crime.
The cameras were erected outside States houses at Rectory Hill in the Castel parish after residents complained of anti-social behaviour in the area.
Insp Terry Coule, of Guernsey Police, said: "The community bobby for that area has decided that it would be a good tool to be able to use."
The cameras were funded by the local branch of the charity Crimestoppers.
Inspector Coule said the use of CCTV cameras by the police was governed by data protection regulations.
He said: "Use of the cameras is subject to scrutiny... so those cameras are specifically sited to view public areas."
