Guernsey port car park may charge

Paid parking at North Beach Harbour in St Peter Port is a step closer after Guernsey's Chamber of Commerce gave the plan its backing.
Proposals for a two-storey car park on the site are included in the Ports Master Plan.
Currently there is no paid public parking in Guernsey.
Chamber President Rupert Dorey said he appreciated that paid parking would concern retailers but the logic of something for nothing was indefensible.
The Public Services Department's Ports Master Plan prioritises building a deep-water berth and improving facilities for freight and commercial fishermen.
Ideas explored in the document include moving the passenger terminal in St Peter Port, creating more parking on North Beach and a cruise liner berth.
