Sarah Groves murder trial in Kashmir delayed again

Mr de Wit denies the charges and has told reporters he is being framed by authorities

The trial of a Dutch national accused of killing Guernsey woman Sarah Groves in Kashmir has been adjourned again.

Richard de Wit, 43, has pleaded not guilty to the charges of murder and illegally fleeing the state.

Last month the trial was delayed for three weeks to allow the prosecution more time to prepare its case.

It has now been adjourned until 6 September as the prosecution failed to produce the alleged murder weapon when they appeared in court earlier.

Sarah Groves was found stabbed to death on a houseboat in Srinagar, where she had been living with a local family, on 6 April.

Her father Vic Groves said the extended delays were difficult for the family.

"My biggest fear is this thing collapses in an inconclusive way," he said.

"I want a clear result, it doesn't have to be this guy, I just want to get the person who did it."
