Commonwealth Games baton arrives in Guernsey

During its final day in Jersey the baton was entertained by a brass band and met a Jersey Cow

The Queen's Commonwealth Games Baton has arrived in Guernsey, as part of its home nations tour on the way to Glasgow in July.

It will be officially welcomed by the island's Commonwealth Games Team at Beau Sejour on Tuesday evening.

The baton arrived in Jersey on Sunday after a tour of Commonwealth countries and was carried in to St Aubin by diver Tom Daley.

After touring the Bailiwick of Guernsey it will head to the Isle of Man.

The Queen's Baton international relay aims to demonstrate the unity and diversity of the Commonwealth.

It contains a message from the monarch, which will be revealed at the opening of the 2014 Games in Glasgow in July.

It finished its Jersey leg on Tuesday with a stop at Corbiere lighthouse. It then moved on to La Moye School where baton bearers took it to nearby playing fields where it was welcomed by other schoolchildren and a steel band.

After the Isle of Man it travels on to Northern Ireland, Wales and England before ending its journey with a 40-day tour of Scotland.
