Increased use of performance-enhancing drugs in Guernsey

There has been an increase in people using performance-enhancing drugs in Guernsey, an addiction charity has said.
In-Dependence released its annual report which found that the use of performance enhancers had increased in 2023 compared to 2022.
The charity, which primarily supports those with alcohol dependency, said it saw more than 170 people in 2023.
Manager Tracey Rear said anyone with concerns could access its services.
She said: "Generally, the community don't know what we do (and) those that do may not be aware that it's free of charge.
"I think it's really important that people know we're here, they know we can help with drugs, alcohol and gambling behaviours.
"We can work with affected family members."
The charity said it had made "significant progress" in raising awareness of the provision of therapy, improving pathways to treatment and engaging with the gambling sector.
