A planning application to rebuild and extend the runway at Alderney Airport will go to committee at the end of May.

The Building and Development Control Committee (BDCC) will also review a proposal for a new passenger terminal and fire station on the site.

The States said "limited resources" available to Alderney's Planning Office meant the application had delayed some routine planning matters.

It said the detailed proposal had been the planning office's "priority focus".

'Lengthening and widening'

The application was submitted by infrastructure consultants AECOM on behalf of Guernsey Ports at the end of 2023, the States of Alderney said.

It seeks permission for the "reconstruction, lengthening and widening of the current asphalt runway, reconfiguration of the Bravo taxiway and resurfacing of the apron area."

New aerodrome ground approach lighting and drainage are also included in the plans, along with the construction of new terminal and fire station buildings.

An environmental assessment report has been submitted by AECOM in addition to the plans.

The BDCC will resume regular applications at its June meeting but the States said most current ones are expected to be delayed until 25 July.

The airport application will go before the committee on 30 May.
