An Isle of Man health charity has given £358,000 to refurbish a hospital ward in the north of the island.

The donation from the Ramsey League of Friends will help create a new wound and podiatry facility at the Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital.

The building work is expected to be complete by December 2012.

Health minister David Anderson said the improvements would enhance the hospital environment and strengthen the clinical services offered to patients.
