Nominations for the 2016 Isle of Man Sports Awards have opened.

World champion shooter Tim Kneale, who represented GB at the Rio Olympics, is the reigning Sportsman of the Year.

Catherine Reid is currently the island's Sportswomen of the Year after winning bronze in the 2015 Junior World Athletics Championships.

A Manx government spokesman said there are a further eight prizes, including Team of the Year, Veteran Sportsperson and Coach of the Year, up for grabs.

The awards will be made at ceremony at the Villa Marina in Douglas on 22 March.

Nominees must be Manx-born or have resided on the island for at least two years.

Former winners include cyclists Mark Cavendish and Peter Kennaugh.

Minister Graham Cregeen said: "From grassroots level to our elite international athletes, these awards recognise those who make the island so successful and renowned at sport."
