Weapons amnesty launched on Isle of Man

Isle of Man residents have been asked to hand in illegal firearms and weapons as part of a month-long amnesty.
During the last amnesty in 2014, 110 firearms as well as ammunition, knives and other weapons were surrendered at police stations across island.
PC Carl Woods of the Firearms Department said getting weapons out of circulation is in everybody's best interests.
Anyone handing in items during February is exempt from prosecution.
"It is an opportunity for people who perhaps have weapons that they know they shouldn't have and don't know what to do with them to surrender them without fear of any legal action," added PC Woods.
"The vast majority of stuff surrendered tends to be air weapons - which people don't realise you need a certificate for on the island - shotguns and samurai swords".
Secured weapons can be handed in at Douglas, Ramsey, Castletown and Peel police stations.
