Part of the quayside in the Isle of Man's capital is to be closed for three hours while emergency services undertake incident response training.

Police officers, ambulance staff and fire crews will be involved in the exercise on South Quay from 18:00 BST.

The training will also include support from the Civil Defence, Coastguard and the Salvation Army.

Emergency planning officer Jane Kelly said it was an "essential part of our emergency preparedness efforts".

Ms Kelly said the exercise would give teams an "an opportunity to practice coordination and communication between emergency services".

"While we hope that major incidents are rare, it's vital that we are fully prepared to respond swiftly and efficiently when they do occur," she said.

"These exercises also help us identify any gaps in our response strategies and ensure that all agencies involved are well-coordinated."

Members of the public have been asked to avoid the area, which will be closed off until 21:00.
