All daytime ferry sailings between the island and Lancashire and Liverpool have been scrapped

Daytime ferry sailings between the Isle of Man and Lancashire have been cancelled due gale force winds.

The Manxman's 08:45 BST journey to Heysham and the 14:15 return have been called off by the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company.

The 13:30 Manannan sailing to Liverpool and its 18:15 return have also been cancelled.

Drivers have also been warned of standing water on roads with heavy rain set to continue throughout the day.

Areas in Greeba, Crosby, Balthane, Quarterbridge, Mount Murray and the Creg Ny Baa Back Road have all experienced minor flooding due to the downpours overnight, a force spokesman said.

A yellow warning for heavy rain issued by Ronaldsway Met Office has been put in place until 18:00.

The Isle of Man Post Office said any outbound mail collected on Thursday had not been dispatched because of the ferry cancellations, and inbound mail would not arrive as a result.
