Ferry sailings from Douglas to Heysham have restarted after gales led to disruption overnight.

The restart follows the cancellation of Tuesday evening's Manxman crossings.

The morning sailing was brought forward by just under an hour due to the forecasted return of gale force winds, leaving Douglas Harbour at 07:40 GMT.

An amber weather warning is in place on the Isle of Man until 15:00, with warnings for standing water on roads and coastal overtopping at high tide.

Ronaldsway Met Office said persistent heavy rain overnight and through the morning could lead to a moderate risk of localised flooding.

Forecasters also said large waves would break over exposed coastal locations either side of high tide just after 11:30, leaving debris in coastal areas.

A representative said while places exposed to the south winds were most at risk, Laxey and Ramsey promenades and central and northern parts of Douglas Promenade were also under threat, including the northern part of the temporary parking area in the capital.

The A18 Mountain Road was closed for safety reasons due to "poor driving conditions", the Isle of Man Constabulary said.

There was also disruption on other roads due to fallen trees, including St Judes Crossroads, Dreemskerry Road in Ballajora, and Maughold Road at Ballure.
