Jersey women get bravery award for fire rescue
- Published
Two Jersey women have been honoured for saving the life an elderly woman during a fire at her home.
Carol Gould and Sheree Laurence led Peggy Habin to safety after fire engulfed her kitchen in St Brelade last November.
They have been presented with a Chief Officer's Commendation for an act of bravery.
Mrs Habin's son Simon said their intervention had probably saved his mother's life.
He said he would not have missed the award presentation "for the world".
"Words can hardly describe it," said Mr Habin.
"I don't think there could be much doubt that without the intervention of these two brave ladies my mother's life would be in jeopardy and she wouldn't be alive today."
