More than 1,000 express volunteering interest in Jersey

More than 1,000 people have expressed an interest to become a charity volunteer in Jersey.

A volunteer week was staged by the Association of Jersey Charities to get more people involved.

The association's administrator, Lyn Wilton, said more than 1,000 leaflets had been collected.

Ms Wilton added that charity funding was under pressure and volunteers were becoming increasingly important. The association has 263 member charities.

Ms Wilton said she considered the volunteer drive to have been a success.
