The minimum wage in Jersey has increased by 2.5%.

Workers on the lowest paid wages will get an extra 16p an hour to £6.48 an hour, which is about £6 a week extra for full-time workers.

Minimum wages for trainees will rise by 2.5% from £4.74 to £4.86 an hour, in line with rises in Guernsey and the UK.

The increase follows recommendations by the Employment Forum which was formed in August 1999 and was modelled on the Low Pay Commission in the UK.
