Jersey employment forum wants views on minimum wage

People who earn the minimum wage in Jersey could help set pay for low-earners in the coming year.

The Employment Forum is reviewing the island's minimum wage which is currently £6.32 per hour.

The forum wants to hear the views of people who earn the minimum rate, or employers who pay it to their staff.

It will also discuss whether companies should have more flexibility to deduct pay when meals are provided as part of a job.

David Robinson, Chairman of the Employment Forum, said: "I would encourage anyone who is interested in the minimum wage to apply to become a member of the Employment Forum.

"The Forum also reviews other aspects of employment legislation at the direction of the Social Security Minister.

"This is a very interesting role giving the opportunity to influence employment law policy in Jersey."
