Tickets for the 2012 £1m Jersey Hospice Care lottery have gone on sale.

The 6,000 tickets, which cost £300 each, are on sale at Lloyds TSB branches in St Helier and St Brelade.

Hospice chairman Gari Purcell-Jones said: "We're hopeful work syndicates, families and friends will gather together to support us once again."

He said the lottery was the charity's biggest annual fund-raiser and the draw would take place on 14 September.

The lottery, which is in its sixth year, was expected to raise £500,000 for the hospice.

Dr Purcell-Jones said Jersey Hospice costs £6,000 a day to run and the funds raised from the lottery were critical.
