There aren't many artists who take a break from music for almost four years and expect their career to have survived.
There are even fewer who can announce their comeback in a 30 second television advert.
And it's only Adele who can sing a couple of lines of new music and make headlines around the world.
There's no name, no release date, no comment - but rumours suggest her third album will drop in November.

Read all the speculation about her new album - in one story.
It might only be a month to wait but from the reaction on social media, Adele fans might not be able to last that long.
The lyrics she sang during The X Factor ad break were: "Hello/It's me/I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet/To go over everything.
"They say that time's supposed to heal ya/But I ain't done much healing..."
Gnarls Barkley's Brian Burton, Swedish producer Max Martin and One Republic's Ryan Tedder are all rumoured to be working on the upcoming release.
