Wolf Alice were the big winners at the NME Awards.

They took home the best track award for Giant Peach and best live band, having been nominated for six gongs.

Picking up the best track award, Theo Ellis said: "I can't believe we just won an award nominated against some of our favourite people."

They were up against Coldplay, The Libertines, The Weeknd, Skepta and Foals but it was The Maccabees who beat them to win best British band.

Foals won best album and Charli XCX won best British solo artist.

Rat Boy, 19, won best new artist and has been hailed as the voice of his generation by some drawing comparisons to Jamie T.

He's previously toured with The 1975.

Glastonbury won the award for best festival, while End of the Road won best small festival.

Some not so favourable awards were given out as well.

The worst band award was given to 5 Seconds of Summer and villain of the year was given to Donald Trump.

Coldplay received the Godlike genius award and closed the evening with a performance.
