Harry Redknapp 'flattered' by talk of England job

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp says talk of him becoming the next England manager is "flattering", but he's focussed on the Premier League for now.

The Spurs boss has become the hot favourite to take over following Fabio Capello's resignation on Wednesday.

But at his weekly press conference, Harry said: "I can't take my eye off the ball at Tottenham."

But he did admit that he'd be interested, saying it's the "ultimate job for an Englishman".

Loads of people, from players to managers to TV personalities, have come out in support of Harry getting the England job.

There've been suggestions that the FA might try to get Harry to do the England manager's job part-time, sharing it with his time at Spurs, but he said: "It is hard enough managing a league club, let alone your country.

"It is two very difficult jobs and you have to focus on one job."

Stuart Pearce, the current England U21 manager, will take charge for the time being and will manage the team for the friendly against the Netherlands on 29 February.
