Muamba pays tribute to paramedics

Fabrice Muamba has paid tribute to the doctors and paramedics who helped save his life.

The former Bolton Wanderers player collapsed suddenly during a match against Tottenham Hotspur in March.

Appearing at a BBC awards ceremony recorded in July, he said his recovery would be a "long process" and praised the paramedics who saved him.

Muamba has just announced his retirement from professional football.

The BBC 999 Awards, celebrating the heroic acts people perform on a daily basis, is broadcast on Thursday 16 August at 8:00pm on BBC One.
