Jamie Vardy stays at Leicester: Why is he such a big deal?

Jamie Vardy, the 29-year-old England striker, made history with Leicester City this season by scoring in 11 games in a row. The Foxes have confirmed he will stay on at the club, despite interest from Arsenal. It's good news for Leicester because of Vardy's impressive Premier League goal-scoring record. Here's how he scored in 11 games in a row, beating Ruud van Nistelrooy's previous record...
29 August: Bournemouth 1-1 Leicester. Vardy's 11 goal record started in the fourth game of the season in a match against Bournemouth. He scored a crucial late penalty, after being fouled in the box. The goal preserved Leicester’s unbeaten start to the season.
13 September: Leicester 3-2 Aston Villa. Leicester were 2-0 down against Villa in the first-half, but a stunning comeback in the second-half was completed by Vardy’s equaliser from close range in the 82nd minute.
19 September: Stoke 2-2 Leicester. Vardy’s crucial equaliser against Stoke protected Leicester's unbeaten run.
26 September: Leicester 2-5 Arsenal. It was Leicester’s first defeat of the season against Arsenal, despite two goals from Vardy, including one in the 89th minute.
3 October: Norwich 1-2 Leicester. Vardy’s penalty strike against Norwich seemed all the more impressive when manager Claudio Ranieri revealed that the striker had been playing with two broken bones in his wrist.
17 October: Southampton 2-2 Leicester. Vardy took his team from two goals down with a header, and then an equaliser in injury time to secure a last-minute draw.
24 October: Leicester 1-0 Crystal Palace. Vardy scored the winning goal against Crystal Palace, sneaking the ball past the goalkeeper.
31 October: West Brom 2-3 Leicester. Despite going down in the middle of the match and being treated for an ankle injury, Vardy returned to the pitch and secured victory with Leicester’s third goal of the match.
7 November: Leicester 2-1 Watford. Another injury scare could have rocked Vardy, but he held his nerve and scored another winner for Leicester.
21 November: Newcastle 0-3 Leicester. Vardy scored in his 10th match in a row with a goal just before half-time. It was a great day for Leicester, as Manchester City and Arsenal’s losses left the Foxes at the top of the league table.
28 November: Leicester 1-1 Manchester United. Vardy’s 11th goal in his 11th match in a row meant he had set a new record, beating the previous record of 10 goals in 10 matches in a row set by Ruud van Nistelrooy. Vardy was trending on Twitter - with 26,839 tweets mentioning his name in the minute after he scored.
However, before he heads back to Leicester, he has the hopes of England resting on his shoulders at the Euros in France. Vardy scored in England's 2-1 win over Wales at Euro 2016 as Roy Hodgson's side finished second in Group B to make it through to the last 16.
