2,000-year-old butter found in a bog in Ireland
- Published

This huge 2,000-year-old lump of butter has been found in a bog near Drakerath in Ireland.
It probably wouldn't fit inside your fridge - it weighs as much as 10 large bags of sugar.
The egg-shaped piece of dairy smells like a strong cheese and it's thought it was made as a gift to the gods.
Conditions in bogs are good for preserving things so the lump of butter is in a good state even though it's so old.
It's now been sent to the National Museum of Ireland for more research. Yum!
