Was the first England v Scotland match played at Carlisle Castle?

Carlisle Castle has been the site of many battles between the Scottish and the English.

It is the castle that has seen more battles than any other in the country.

However, over 450 years ago the castle was the site of a battle of a different kind.

While imprisoned there, Mary Queen of Scots is said to have witnessed the first unofficial football match between England and Scotland.
