Nicotine pouches: What are they and why are they a problem?

A few months ago, the government banned the sale of disposable vapes in the UK.

One of the reasons this was done was to try and limit the number of children being able to access and use them.

But lots of people are worried about another addictive product that kids are becoming more aware of – nicotine pouches, sometimes called snus.

Public health charity, Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) says recent data shows that in 2024, 38% of 11-18 year-olds knew what a nicotine pouch was but that awareness has increased to 43% of that age range in June this year.
