The Masked Dancer: All the celebrity dancers unmasked

It's time to find out... who's behind the mask!

The grand final of the Masked Dancer took place on Saturday 5 June, with four contestants: Zip, Scarecrow, Carwash or Squirrel battling it out to be crowned the champion.

Over the course of the competition 12 masked dancers gave some epic performances, dressed in amazing costumes, like Rubber chicken, Carwash and Knickerbocker Glory.

Judges Oti Mabuse, Jonathon Ross, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan joined the audience in trying to guess just who was behind the mask. But did you figure it all out?

Carwash - Louis Smith

Carwash took the crown this series, and was revealed to be former Olympic gymnast Louis Smith.

Speaking about his win he said: "It's been the most bonkers thing I've ever done but the most enjoyable thing. It's been madness."

"I love the singer version, I love dancing and I love performing. I think this is a lot more physical obviously but I am definitely a better dancer."

This is the second time Louis has won a dancing competition, In 2012 Louis took home the Glitterball Trophy in Strictly Come Dancing!

Squirrel - Bonnie Langford

None of the judges guessed that 56-year-old West-End star Bonnie Langford was hidden inside Squirrel, and they were very impressed with her moves.

Bonnie said after the unmasking: "I love the Masked Singer and this seemed even more crazy."

Speaking about her Squirrel character, Bonnie said: "She's cute and sassy. I think she has a soft nature but acts big because she's small. She's feisty and fun."

Zip - Howard Donald

Finishing in third place was Zip, who was revealed to be Take That star Howard Donald.

Speaking about the costume Howard said: "I love the mask. It's me in a nutshell. From the first time I saw a drawing of the outfit I was so excited to get to be that character, although the big mask was restrictive when it came to some of the dance moves."

Although his name was mentioned by the judges, none of them got it right in the end when they voted.

Scarecrow - Tamzin Outhwaite

Scarecrow was unmasked as actress Tamzin Outhwaite.

Guest judge Holly Willoughby was particularly shocked by her reveal as she shared that her husband is Tamzin's cousin!

Talking about her performance Tamzin said there were: "Lots of nerves always but the feeling of nobody knowing who you are is liberating. I feel slightly more confident with the mask on but can't breathe as well."

Frog - Kelly Brook

Model and presenter Kelly Brook was Frog

Their identity was revealed and it was model and presenter Kelly Brook.

After being unmasked, she said: "I've always loved dancing, though I haven't danced for years so I can pat myself on the back as I did that."

She added: "It's just been the best experience ever."

Knickerbocker Glory - Craig Revel Horwood

Dancer and Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood was behind Knickerbocker Glory

Knickerbocker Glory was unmasked as Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood.

On taking on the show, Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig said: "I haven't danced for years and thought it a fun challenge."

"Yes, I was very nervous. However, I would be just as confident with the mask off," he added.

Frog was the next celebrity to be unmasked after losing a dance off against Carwash.

Llama - Zoe Ball

Zoe kept the secret that she was the Llama from her children

Llama was the sixth celebrity to leave the competition, and it was BBC Radio 2 breakfast show host Zoe Ball.

Talking about her time on the show, Zoe said: "I've had so much fun! It's been such a laugh, I've proper loved trotting around, anyone thinking of doing it, do it, it's so much fun!"

"The whole thing is bonkers - I loved being Llama and trotting about. Not speaking was hard though," she added.

Beagle - Christopher Dean

Olympic figure-skating champion, and Dancing on Ice's head judge, Christopher Dean was hiding under Beagle's mask.

Speaking to the judges after his unmasking, Christopher said: "It's been great fun... I am getting on a bit now, new challenges are always nice to take on, I am 63 this year!"

"The whole experience of wearing a disguise all the time was surreal," he added.

Rubber Chicken - Eddie The Eagle

Former Olympian Eddie Edwards was unmasked as the Rubber Chicken

Sports legend Eddie the Eagle was the fourth celebrity revealed to be behind the mask.

He was a ski-jumper and Olympian, who in 1988 became the first person to represent Great Britain in the sport since 1928.

Actor Taron Egerton played him in a hit film called 'Eddie the Eagle' in 2016.

Eddie said about taking apart in the show: "I always love a challenge and I love dancing too. I loved being a Rubber Chicken. I could really be silly and play with the character but I did find the costume quite restrictive."

Beetroot - Dita Von Teese

Beetroot was unmasked as American model and dancer Dita Von Teese.

"I thought it would be fun to do something unexpected and out of character for me… I've never done anything like this, and I'm not a competitive person, but I knew it would be hilarious," she said about signing up for the show.

"I also knew people wouldn't expect me to be under the mask," Dita added.

Flamingo - Louise Redknapp

The singer and media personality used to be a member of R&B girl group Eternal, but didn't do enough to impress the judges with her moves this time around.

She said she wanted to take part in the series because 'it just seemed so fun'.

On Instagram she wrote: 'Thanks for having me Masked Dancer - was so much fun to get out the house and do some dancing!"

The reveal came as a shock to her children, with Louise sharing a video of the moment her son realised she was Flamingo.

Viper - Jordan Banjo

The first celebrity to leave the competition was Diversity dancer and radio presenter, Jordan Banjo.

He was revealed as Viper on Saturday night.

Speaking about keeping the show a secret, Jordan said: "It was super difficult, especially from friends and family... I felt like a spy."

"I love the panel, I love that it's not treated like some super serious dance show but as a fun, feel good guessing game," he added.

When is The Masked Dancer on?

The Masked Dancer is due to be on TV every day this week on ITV, and is presented by comedian Joel Dommett.

It was revealed earlier this week that John Bishop, David Walliams and Holly Willoughby will appear as guest judges, alongside the regular panel of Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Oti Mabuse and Jonathan Ross.

The Masked Dancer sees 12 celebrity contestants perform unique dances, while the virtual audience decide which dancer from each face-off would go through automatically into the next round.

It follows in the footsteps of the hit ITV show The Masked Singer, which had 10 million viewers for the final episode.
