'I'll take this one!' An elephant at Tiergarten zoo in Berlin tucks into a Christmas tree.

The unsold Christmas trees were given to the animals at the zoo in Germany as a festive treat.

For some of the animals, like these reindeer, the unusual menu item is both a snack and something to play with. They enjoy lifting the trees up with their antlers and throwing them in the air.

The zoo welcomes unwanted Christmas tree donations every year which they feed to animals like these Chamois, a species of goat-antelope.

The zoo says the conifers are like sweets to animals like these bison, who enjoy snacking on the fir leaves.
