Dancing On Ice: Behind the scenes as new series begins

Calling all Dancing on Ice fans - there's not long to go now until the new series begins!

The programme will return for its 16th series on 14 January 2024, with a new line-up of twelve celebrity contestants hoping to impress alongside their professional partners.

Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern will co-present the show, while judges Torvill and Dean, Ashley Banjo and Oti Mabuse will all be returning to the panel next month.

Which celebrities are in Dancing on Ice 2024?

Roxy Shahidi

Emmerdale star Roxy is the twelfth and final celebrity confirmed to be taking part in the new series of Dancing on Ice.

The actress who plays Leyla Harding in the soap, isn't the first cast member of her Emmerdale family to appear on the programme.

Joe-Warren Plant, who plays her on-screen son Jacob, took part in the series in 2021.

Ryan Thomas

Actor Ryan Thomas, who starred in Coronation Street for more than fifteen years, will be swapping the TV studio for the ice rink in 2024.

Ryan is the older brother of fellow actor Adam Thomas who took part in the most recent series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Adele Roberts

Broadcaster and DJ Adele Roberts will also be taking to the ice very soon.

Adele explained that she "can't wait for the glam!"

"I think the hardest part is putting myself out there as I usually hide away. I did radio as it's not visual. That's going to be a big challenge," she added.

Ricky Norwood

Actor and former Eastenders star Ricky Norwood will also be trying to impress the judges and the nation with his moves on the ice.

"I've got to trust in the process, trust in the training, trust in the trainers," he said.

Lou Sanders

Comedian and writer Lou Sanders says she's feeling nervous about staying injury-free on the ice as she joins the Dancing on Ice line-up.

"I'm also worried about my partner picking me up, he's going to have to be very strong and very brave," she added.

Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards

Former ski jumper Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards will be swapping skis for skates as he taking to the ice alongside his fellow celebrities.

Eddie joined the cast after Gogglebox star Stephen Lustig-Webb had to withdraw when he got injured during training.

Eddie said: "It's bittersweet as whilst I'm delighted to be taking part in the new series, I'm gutted for Stephen and wish him a speedy recovery.

"Dancing on Ice is a show I've always wanted to do. It's a challenge I think I'm going to relish!"

Miles Nazaire

Reality star Miles Nazaire announced he'll be showing off his skills on the ice on social media.

He wrote: "I've always loved to dance but it's usually on a dance floor on a Saturday night and Dancing on Ice looks so difficult.

"This is such an unbelievable opportunity to get totally out of my comfort zone," Miles added.

Greg Rutherford

Presenter and ex-Olympic champion Greg Rutherford has been confirmed to be taking part in the new series.

The former long jump athlete, who won gold at the 2012 London Olympics, said he wasn't feeling very confident but he'd be giving it his all.

"I'm in no way expecting to be very good at this at all, but I will work as hard as I possibly can to get as good as I can," he explained.

Amber Davies

Actress and West End star Amber Davies will also be appearing in the new series of Dancing on Ice.

Amber said: "I would definitely say that I'm an adrenaline junkie but I do get more nervous as I get older and I hope that I can contain them, I don't want the adrenalin to get the better of me."

She also revealed that she's not had much previous practice on the ice.

"I can count on one hand how many times I've ice skated."

Hannah Spearritt

Actress and singer Hannah Spearritt, best known for being part of pop group S Club 7, will also be taking to the ice.

Hannah explained the main reason for signing up for the show.

"I`m really excited about learning a new skill. It's so easy to live your comfortable life and that aspect of mixing things up is very appealing."

Claire Sweeney

Coronation Street actress Claire Sweeney will also be trying to impress the judges and the nation with her skills.

Claire said: "I'm really looking forward to going to an ice rink with my son and actually being able to skate and not have to use the penguins they give you to help you stay upright!

"I've had to wear my boots around the house... I haven't stepped on the ice yet," she added.

Ricky Hatton

Former World Champion boxer Ricky Hatton was the first celebrity confirmed to be taking part in the new series of Dancing on Ice.

Ricky said he was feeling optimistic about his upcoming challenge.

He said: "If I can hold my nerve in the boxing ring I should be able to hold my nerve in the ice rink.

"I like setting new challenges and keeping myself busy," he added.
