What impact has Storm Babet had so far?

Weather warnings are in place across the UK as Storm Babet touches down. The strongest winds are set to be in eastern Scotland and England, that has seen waves crashing over the promenade in Scarborough.

Schools in Angus have been closed and people in more than 400 homes have been told to evacuate.

A red weather warning is in place in parts of Scotland. Red is the most serious warning the Met Office issues. It means that it is likely that the weather will cause damage, for example to buildings and roads. That's already been seen in Brechin.

Emergency services workers have been walking through flood water to help those affected by Storm Babet.

Strong winds have blown sea foam onto the road in Sunderland.
