Heavy snow and wintery weather is continuing to cause problems across parts of the UK.
The wintery weather meant that dozen of schools in north Wales and northern England were forced to close.
Warnings are still in place now for snow and ice in central and northern Scotland.
Dan Stroud, from the Met Office, which monitors the weather, said: "We've had the worst of it but it's still not completely clear."
A number of roads in some areas of Northern Ireland that run along higher ground were impassable.
And the weather meant schools closed in Wales, Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Cumbria.
On Thursday in Flintshire, north Wales, every school was shut before any snow had fallen.
About 10cm (3.9in) of snow was measured by the Met Office in Kirkwall, Orkney in Scotland, on Thursday.
The coldest temperature recorded was -13.8C (7.1F) in Altnaharra in the Scottish Highlands.
The Met Office has said there is a small chance of power cuts and some rural communities being cut off in Scotland.
It also expects the weather will cause some travel delays on the roads.
