Monday was April Fool's Day, which gave us a whole day of celebrating jokes and silliness.

This year, the day also took place on a bank holiday - which meant more opportunities to joke with each other.

Enter the potato dimension

Welcome - it's all poisonous potato!

Fans of Minecraft have been asking the game developers to add a new dimension for a while now. If you've played the game for a long time, you will have explored the Nether and conquered the End, but what comes next?

So, on April 1, developer Mojang announced a whole new dimension, complete with mobs and tools, made completely out of poisonous potato!

For those who don't play the game, poisonous potato is an item you can use in Minecraft to make a poisonous stew.

The new dimension had potato-themed tools, five new potato biomes, and promised to let you "experience life as a spud".

They also fooled fans by saying they could look forward to "radioactive rice" and "toxic taro" updates in the future.

CBeebies introduce... Viper!

Cbeebies jokily introduced Viper as a new presenter on the show for younger children

Did you watch the Gladiators final on Saturday? Now the series is over for a little while, CBeebies had a prank solution for one gladiator, who might have a bit of time on his hands - introducing Viper as a new presenter!

This caused a lot of laughs for parents, who saw the April Fool's joke via the CBeebies social media channel for grown-ups.

CBeebies did reveal it was all an April Fool's Day joke - and sadly Viper will not be taking part as a presenter from now on.

Ant and Dec become chefs

Ant and Dec posted this fake quote on their social media page

Over to another TV presenter prank - Ant and Dec revealed on their social media channels that they are becoming chefs!

Ant explained his passion for cooking is shown through making his family his favourite dish... beans on toast! Dec added that his favourite ingredient was cheese.

At the bottom of their post they explained it was all an April Fool's Day prank - we will have to wait to see what they plan next.

Early eclipse

Over in the USA, Mexico and Canada, people are excitedly looking forward to a total solar eclipse on April 8. You can read more about it here.

The University of Vermont performed a cheeky prank on sky-watchers, suggesting that a branch of the government had discovered the eclipse was coming seven days early.

It was all quite quickly revealed to be a prank once people caught onto the name of the organisation that had made the discovery.

It was called U.S. National Observatory's Measurement Alignment and Astronomy Ministration - which when turned into an acronym, spells "NO MA'AM".
