Bafta Games Awards 2024: Who were the winners of the night?

The British Academy Games Awards took place on Thursday night, but which nominees managed to take home an iconic Bafta mask?

Despite leading the way with nine nominations, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 collected one award.

It went to actor Nadji Jeter, who won 'Best performer in a leading role' for lending his voice talents to the game's hero Miles Morales.

Nintendo had a double success with Super Mario Bros. Wonder, which came out on top in both the family and multiplayer categories.

Spider-Man 2 was nominated for nine Baftas but only collected one award. The game had a similar fate at the Game Awards in the United States in 2023 where it was nominated for seven awards but didn't take home any.

The company's other big title, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, won the technical achievement award - recognising the work that goes on behind the scenes to make a game perform well.

Lots of smaller games also managed to pick up a Bafta during the night.

Scottish-made puzzle game Viewfinder was awarded with the 'Best British game' award, and 'New intellectual property' - in other words, the best new creative idea.

Sad Owl Studios, the team behind puzzle game Viewfinder, gave a nod to Scotland with their outfits for the night and were pretty pleased with their two awards.

Venba, a cooking game about a family who move from India to Canada in the 1980s, secured the win for 'Best debut game'.

Cult favourite Dave the Diver won best game design, despite missing out in other categories.
