Nezumi the 13-year-old Chihuahua took part in the competition which celebrates dogs that don't fit the 'beauty' standards but are just as cute as their fellow pets.

Poppy is a 7-year-old Chinese Crested dog sporting a very fetching fringe. This breed of dog has a unique appearance. They are mainly hairless but often have a fun hair do on their heads! Poppy came third.

The competition aims to remind people that adopting a dog can be just as rewarding as buying one and their unique features are celebrated as a badge of honour.

A pug called Jinny Lu came second in the competition. She is five years old and was rescued from Korea. Look at that impressive tongue!

How adorable is Merle Haggard! His owner said: "Yeah he's cute but at the same time he's a little ugly. So I think people like that. The tongue is always a plus. And yeah I think that's it. They just like his spicy little personality."
