Harry Kane scores twice on his 100th England appearance

Harry Kane scored two goals on his 100th appearance for England in a 2-0 win against Finland in the Nations League on Tuesday night.

He's only the 10th men's footballer to reach this milestone and the first since Wayne Rooney in 2014.

Kane is also England's top scorer with 68 goals in his 100 caps to date.

He described the event as a "really special" occasion.

Before the game kicked off at Wembley, the crowd cheered as Kane was presented with a golden cap to mark the achievement of reaching 100 appearances for England.

He was joined by his family, including two of his children, who walked out onto the pitch with him.

The player also celebrated the occasion by wearing golden boots during the match.

During his nine and a half year international career, Kane has captained England 73 times.

With him as captain and Gareth Southgate as manager, England went closer to major tournament glory than at any time since their 1966 World Cup win.

Kane won the 2018 Golden Boot - the top scorer award - with six goals as England reached the World Cup semi-finals, losing in extra time to Croatia.

England also made it to two European Championship finals. They lost to Italy on penalties at Euro 2020, where Kane scored four goals, and then 2-1 to Spain this summer.

This time around Kane's three goals put him in a six-way tie for another Golden Boot and made him England's joint-record European Championship goalscorer, alongside Alan Shearer on seven.

Who else is in 'the century club'?

Goalkeeper Peter Shilton has the most caps for the mens' England team, with 125, And Wayne Rooney is five behind him.

David Beckham and Steven Gerrard played 115 and 114 times and World Cup-winning captain Bobby Moore 108.

Ashley Cole, Sir Bobby Charlton, Frank Lampard and Billy Wright are the other 'centurions'.

Fara Williams is the most capped player for the England women's football team, with 172 appearances between 2001 and 2019.

Second in the Lionesses list is Jill Scott with 161 caps and of the current team, Lucy Bronze has played for England 124 times.
