We want to know how long you could last without the internet

How long could you go without access to the internet? No Youtube, no online gaming, no streaming, and no Newsround articles!

For one Island in Scotland, Tirre, this is reality after the fibre cable connecting the island to the mainland was damaged during Storm Amy earlier this month.

Whilst they now have a temporary system in place for essential services like doctors and the post office, BBC Scotland News says that the island community have been asked to avoid making video calls or use online streaming in case it brings down the broadband services.

Maybe you've had to spend time been in an internet-free world when you've been on holiday or in a remote area with no data on your devices?

Could you cope? What would you spend your time doing instead? What problems might it cause? Let us in the comments know down below.

What has happened?

BBC Scotland News reported on the damage to the lines that bring the island internet and said islanders are not sure how long repairs will take.

They also spoke to Business owners on the Island who told them their work was being made much harder due to the situation.

However, there is some hope for the 700 people living on Tiree.

BT have said they are working hard to ensure the community keep connected through temporary solutions.

A Scottish government spokesperson also told BBC Scotland that the response to the damaged cables remained ongoing to ensure the fibre connection is "restored as soon as possible"

So, hopefully it won't be long until the Island is back fully connected again!
