On 13 November the lights were turned on at Battersea Power Station

At this time of year there are bound to be lots of special Christmas events planned, no matter whereabouts in the country you live.

In London there are lots of festive lights around around the city, as well as in Belfast, Edinburgh and Leicester.

At Battersea Power Station this week, singer Kylie Minogue made a surprise appearance to turn on the Christmas lights display there.

Covent Garden in London has been lit up to mark the start of 'The Theatre of Christmas' celebrations there.

Each year Victoria Square in Belfast is transformed into a winter wonderland.

In Edinburgh the lights were switched on during the St James Quarter Christmas Parade.

Meanwhile in Leicester lots of people have been seen getting into the Christmas spirit.

Blackpool's famous illuminations began at the end of the summer and will run all through the Christmas period until 4 Jan 2026.
