Game Awards 2024: Astro Bot wins top prize

Some of the biggest videogames of the year went head-to-head at the Game Awards, but it was Astro Bot that came out on top.
The game was tied for the highest number of nominations ahead of this year's ceremony in Los Angeles, in the US.
It was in the running for seven of the awards, and ended up winning four of them - including the top prize of Game of the Year.

Astro Bot is a colourful 3D platform game on the PS5.
It sees players take control of the main character, Astro, exploring 50 planets which are full of surprises including characters from some of Playstation's hit games.
As well as picking up the top prize, the game also won Best Family Game, Best Action/Adventure and Best Game Direction.
The game, released in September, has sold more than 1.5 million copies in its first two months.
What else happened at the Game Awards?
There was tough competition in the Best Sport/Racing category, which has been won by a racing game for the last three years.
But this time it was a football game that came out on top - EA Sports FC 25.
As well as the awards, the ceremony itself - which is now in its tenth year - came with some star-studded surprises.
Fresh from performing in Fortnite, Snoop Dogg appeared at the show, as too did Harrison Ford - who plays Indiana Jones and Han Solo in Star Wars.
