Growing up and becoming an adult is a big part of life, but what age do you think someone becomes officially old?

A new poll might just have the answer... according to kids.

1,000 children aged seven to 16 were asked the big question as part of research commissioned by a health insurance company.

And the final number they landed on?

The grand old age of 49!

As part of the research by Axa Health, children were also asked what activities they think old people love to do.

51% felt listening to the radio was a sign adults were getting on a bit, while 48% believed watching daytime TV was evidence of someone's older age.

45% of children asked also felt moaning about aches and pains was linked to old age, while 34% said they thought complaining about the weather is something older people do.

What makes your parent 'old'?

Despite the children polled setting old age at nearly 50, younger adults haven't got off lightly either.

One in five children believe adults stop having fun and exercising at 30-years-old and nearly half of those polled said they believed their parents were old.

But there were some good things about being an adult that were flagged.

52% of children said they felt one positive of ageing was having more money, 47% said it was good having more life experience, and 45% said understanding more about life in general was a big plus.
