Staying safe in the sunshine

Remember to wear lots of sunscreen when out in the sun
Drink water - when it gets hot, your body will sweat more, which means you will become dehydrated faster than normal. Make sure you drink lots of water and eat snacks like fruit to keep your energy up.
Wear sunscreen - sunscreen helps protect your skin from the Sun's ultra violet (UV) rays, which can cause burns or make you feel unwell. Look out for ones with a high SPF (Sun Protection Factor) number like SPF 30 or 50 for more protection. Make sure you re-apply your sunscreen regularly throughout the day.
Cover up - wearing loose light-coloured clothes can help keep you cool.
Find cover - when the sunlight peaks between 12-3pm it is best to find shade to stay out of the sun's most intense rays.
Be careful with water - water can cool you down, but swimming in outdoor places like the sea, river or reservoirs can be really dangerous.
Look out for your pets - our furry friends may need a helping hand when the weather is hot so try and keep them cool with these top tips.
