Taylor Swift is shaking up the charts again - and this time, she's doing it with glitter, glam, and a brand new album.

Since its release on Friday, her album, The Life of a Showgirl, has sold 304,000 copies, pushing it to the top spot for the biggest opening week of 2025.

In just three days, Taylor has achieved the UK's biggest first-week sales - breaking the record set by Ed Sheeran's album Divide, which sold 672,000 copies in 2017.

And that's not the only record the album has broken.

Across in the US, Swift is also causing a stir- on Friday alone the new album hit 2.7 million sales.

It currently sits in second place for the most album sales since 1991, when the modern charts began, but there is still time for that to change to first.

And over on streaming sites, the records kept coming.

On October 3, The Life of a Showgirl became Spotify's most-streamed album in a single day this year.

And the story was the same on both Apple and Amazon Music.

As well as the music charts, Taylor dominated the cinema box office over the weekend with her three-day event, The Official Release Party of a Show Girl.

The event sold $46m (£34m) in tickets for her 89-minute film.

But, whilst the album is breaking records, it has got mixed reviews.

Variety magazine called it "contagiously joyful", whilst the Financial Times said it "lacked sparkle".
