Paralympics 2024: GB continue winning streak on Day 5

Swimmers Ellie Challis and Louise Fiddes, who are also room-mates in Paris, both took home a gold

The medals continued to flood in for ParalympicGB yesterday on Day 5 of the Paris Games.

Yesterday's wins add a further six gold medals to the team's total, taking GB's Paris gold total to 29.

Monday's results take ParalympicGB's total to a massive 54 medals.

Their total puts them second only on the medals board to China, who have topped the table for the past five Games.

Dave Ellis and his guide Luke Pollard victory more than made up for their experience at the 2020 Tokyo Games when they could not finish due a mechanical failure whilst cycling

The golds started early on Day 5 with Triathletes David Ellis and Megan Richter winning the first golds of the day for Great Britain.

Dave Ellis and his guide Luke Pollard won gold in the men's PTVI triathlon.

Afterwards Ellis said "It will take a while to sink in. I was thinking back to Tokyo yesterday - this is a much happier feeling."

Para-archers Nathan Macqueen and pregnant Jodie Grinham won gold in mixed team compound open final

The gold medals didn't stop there: Stephen McGuire became a Paralympic champion in boccia, while Para-archers Nathan Macqueen and Jodie Grinham won gold in mixed team compound open final.

Jodie Grinham made history in the competition a few days before as she scored a bronze medal, and became the first pregnant woman to win a Paralympic medal.

Swimmers Ellie Challis and Louise Fiddes, who are also room-mates in Paris, joined those earning gold in the pool.

Elsewhere on Monday, GB secured three more silvers and two bronze medals to add to the total.

Swimmer Clare Cashmore took silver, as did Badminton athletes Dan Bethell and Krysten Coombs.

And triathletes Hannah Moore and Lauren Steadman won bronzes.
