The global phenomenon that is KPop Demon Hunters has been breaking records and winning awards left, right and centre.

And now, it can add another to its list - the soundtrack from the film has been awarded a platinum record.

This is a big honour in the music industry, and the three singers EJAE, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami (who sing as Rumi, Mira and Zoey in that order) were thrilled when they were surprised with it on the American talk show Tonight with Jimmy Fallon.

"This movie has affected all of us so much on an emotional level," Nuna told Fallon.

The film follows a K-pop band called Huntr/x who lead double lives as demon hunters.

They protect their fans from supernatural dangers with their powerful music.

One of their songs, Golden, went quickly up, up, up the charts to reach number one in countries all over the world.

However, songs by their fictional rivals, the Saja Boys, have also done well, and they've become the highest-charting K-pop boy band in US Spotify history.

EJAE, who also co-wrote many of the songs in the film, said that she had the idea for Golden while on the way to the dentist.

She had received the music for the song, and as soon as she heard what she described as the "beautiful intro", she was inspired almost immediately and quickly made a voice note to make sure she remembered it going into writing.

What is a platinum record?

Platinum records are special awards given to artists who have achieved great things with their music.

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) started awarding gold records in 1958 as a reward for selling 500,000 physical singles or albums.

Then, in 1976, the platinum record was introduced, which required one million physical copies to be sold.

But with the rise of the digital age, fewer people buy physical albums, so the RIAA had to come up with a way to continue rewarding hit songs.

So now, 150 streams on sites such as YouTube and Spotify count as one sale.
