A 10-year-old girl's artwork will be displayed next to paintings by the famous artist LS Lowry.

It's because Sophia won the 2025 Copley Prize annual art competition, run by the Lowry Theatre.

She was selected from hundreds of primary school-aged children for her painting titled Bustling Street.

Sophia's work will be on display for a year, where it's expected to be viewed by up to 100,000 visitors!

Sophia describes her painting as a "more modern and colourful" version of Lowry's depictions of working class life around north-west England.

Sophia added: "His art inspires me to see beauty in everyday life."

The co-founder of the competition, Alison Copley, called Sophia "a very worthy winner" because her work was filled with "bold colours and intricate detail".

Mrs Copley added that she admired Sophia's approach of "painting life as she saw around her, just as LS Lowry did".
