Trains from Weybridge can take almost an hour and a half to get to London Waterloo

A country cat that wanted a taste of city life has taken a train from Surrey to London.

Two-year-old Tilly had to be collected from Waterloo station in the capital by her owner Michael Hardy after making the 18-mile journey.

Michael said while Tilly is no stranger to public transport and occasionally rides the bus of her own accord, he still had a bit of a shock when he got the call from Waterloo's ticket office.

Mr Hardy said: "What is my cat doing in Waterloo getting on trains and going for a ride?"

Fortunately, Mr Hardy was working in London at the time and drove to the station to collect Tilly.

He said: "We didn't know where she was. We looked on the Apple [air] tag and realised she'd gone to Waterloo.

"The only way she can get there is on the train. You look at the tag and you see it going from one stop to another."

Tilly isn't the only pet to go on an adventure, though - here are some other pawsome journeys.

Catch flights not felines

Another cat found herself on a surprise flying adventure when baggage handlers left her on a plane which landed in Australia from New Zealand.

Mittens was on a plane from Christchurch in New Zealand to Melbourne in Australia when her family moved house.

But after landing Mittens wasn't taken off the plane and ended up taking off once again on another airborne adventure back to Australia.

After clocking up the extra air miles, in order to be reunited with her family she needed to make yet another journey, back to New Zealand once again.

Nanuq, an Australian Shepherd, ended up making an epic 150-mile journey across sea ice after he disappeared when his family were visiting friends.

He was eventually located on Alaska's west coast, 150 miles away from where he had gone missing and across miles of sea ice.

Other than a swollen leg and some bite marks (possibly from a seal) Nanuq was unharmed and delighted to be reunited with his family.

This adventurous cat travelled a whopping 300 miles from North Lanarkshire in Scotland to Coventry in England.

Luckily Beans had a microchip so when somebody found him, she took her to a cat charity that was able to find his owner, Cara.

"I didn't think to look in England, I didn't imagine he could have gone that far," Cara remarked.
