What to expect from MTV's Video Music Awards 2024

The MTV Video Music Awards - or VMAs as you might know them - are just around the corner.
Some of the biggest names in music will come together for the annual event that celebrates artists and their music videos.
This year it will take place in New York, in the US, on 11 September - in what will be its 40th year.

Who will be performing at the VMAs?
Katy Perry will be receiving a lifetime achievement award called the Video Vanguard Award and will be performing some of her biggest hits to celebrate.
She won't be the only one putting on a show on the night, with a list of artists ready to wow the star-studded audience.
Chappell Roan will appear at the VMAs for the first time, and not only is she up for an award she is also set to perform.
After performing at the pre-show last year, Sabrina Carpenter is due to make the step up to the main stage this time round.
Who are the nominees for the VMAs?
Taylor Swift is leading the way when it comes to nominations this year, she's in the running for 10 awards.
Last year she took home nine awards and became the first artist to win video of the year twice in a row.
Ariana Grande is up for six awards including artist of the year, where she will face off against Tay-Tay.
They will both face fierce competition for best artist from Sabrina Carpenter, she's also up for six awards and made UK chart history earlier this year.
It's also 'Good Luck, Babe' to Chappel Roan who has been nominated for two awards and RAYE who's got one nomination.
