Meet Harlyn the wooden hedgehog

A famous roundabout in Cornwall has got a new animal addition!

A new wooden hedgehog has been added to the award-winning family already 'living' there.

Truro City Council has introduced the newest member of the family on Trafalgar roundabout as Harlyn.

A spokesperson said he was now "part of the family with his parents Denzel and Patricia, brother Cyril and sister Kizzy".

The names of the hedgehogs were suggested by kids at local primary schools.

The hedgehogs were created by artist Emma Scott in nearby St Issey.

The family are already local legends and have had wider attention too.

In 2019 the giant wooden hedgehogs helped the city win the Best Roundabout in the UK Award, given out by the Roundabout Appreciation Society.

The nesting season has taken its toll as birds have stripped the faces of the structures

But last April the hedgehogs had to get a big makeover.

It's after birds pinched the coco fibres they are made of to help build their nests!

Once they were fixed up, they went on to star at the Royal Chelsea Flower Show in May 2024.
