England's under-21s are into the final of the Euros, after a 2-1 win over the Netherlands.

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott scored both England goals in the second half of the game.

The Young Lions are now one match away from defending their U21 title which they won in 2023.

They will face Germany in Saturday's final, after they beat France 3-0 in the other semi-final.

England started the game strongly and were the dominant side throughout the match, with Liverpool's Harvey Elliott twice denied by the Netherland goalkeeper in the first fifteen minutes of the game.

With the score goalless at half-time, it was Elliott who drove forward and fired England into the lead in the second half.

With help from Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson, Elliott blasted the ball past the Netherlands goalkeeper with a fine finish in the 62nd minute.

However, the Netherlands levelled the score just ten minutes later, through their striker Noah Ohio.

But Harvey Elliott wasn't finished yet, and had the final say when he drilled low into the right corner from the edge of the box, five minutes before full time.

After the match, England U21 boss Lee Carsley was full of praise for his players.

Speaking to Channel 4, he said: "They're developing as a team and a squad. I think this team is outstanding.

"We can really look forward to the final," Carsley added.

Harvey Elliott, who picked up Player of the Match for his semi-final performance, explained how proud he was of his England teammates.

"Tonight was another amazing experience, really tough conditions once again. But the way the lads dug deep, I think we deserve this final. It's just about recovering, resting and going again."

England are the defending champions

The U21 Euros final takes place this Saturday 28 June at 8pm.

The match will be played at the Tehelné Pole Stadium in Slovakia's capital, Bratislava.

England are the current champions, having won the tournament in 2023, and will be hoping to defend their title.

If they win, it will be the fourth time they have lifted the trophy in the history of the competition.

But it won't be easy, the two teams have already faced each other in the group stages of this tournament - with England losing 2-1 to Germany last week.

Germany have won the U21 Euros title on three occasions, most recently in 2021.
